Candidate will primarily be responsible for Compliance coverage of our Institutional Equities Sales business, including from a client onboarding and anti-money laundering perspective.
Candidate should have familiarity with the US equity trading markets, including relevant current and proposed industry and regulatory developments. Understanding of the US rules governing institutional equity trading, account structure, and other key rules and regulations is helpful
Candidate will be responsible for providing real time support and advice to the Institutional Equities Sales force and must have the ability to conduct legal or regulatory research and interpret requirements of rules (e.g., FINRA rules: 2111, 2210, 5130, SEC account and trading rules and definitions (e.g., QIB, EGC), key AML-related concepts (e.g., KYC/CDD, SARs, FCPA, OFAC, and other FINRA rules).
Experience with the following is beneficial: FactSet, LexisNexis, Dealogic, Ipreo, Bloomberg, SharePoint, PTCC, SumTotal, Global Relay, Fidessa, and NFS.
Additional responsibilities will include training business unit personnel; drafting policies and procedures; regulatory inquiries and examinations; client due diligence questionnaires; review of hosted speakers.
Work with Sales, Distribution, Client Services, Operations, and members of senior management regarding all aspects of supervisory controls, new products development/initiatives.
Collaborating with other members of the Legal & Compliance department on issues including: trading, research, registration, KYC/AML, personal trading, investment banking, control room, etc. In addition, will work with foreign affiliates on cross border issues/initiatives.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; JD or MBA a plus;
2-5 years of relevant compliance experience, preferably at a major securities firm or regulator;
Experience with AML compliance and/or providing regulatory or compliance advice in connection with the Sales of Institutional Fixed Income or Equities products; and
Excellent communication and conflict management skills
