Equity Capital Markets Summer Analyst – Evercore Partners – New York, NY
Evercore seeks to hire an investment banking Summer Analyst for Equity Capital Markets team in the New York, NY office.
The Evercore Summer Analyst Program is a 10-week program designed to provide highly motivated undergraduates with a representative experience in strategic capital markets advisory. The Program seeks intelligent, mature individuals with the desire and flexibility to work in a boutique environment and learn on the job.
What We Are Looking For:
Evercore’s advisory practice is populated with professionals who are the top strategic advisors in their industries, with deep relationships and significant experience in their respective sectors. Deal teams at Evercore are typically small – often no more than four people – and as such, junior bankers have significant, direct exposure to and interaction with partners and other senior professionals. ECM is no exception. The team is led by Jim Birle, previously Global Head of Equity Capital Markets for a decade at Merrill Lynch, and three other senior partners who have significant capital markets experience leading ECM origination and syndicate teams at bulge bracket firms.
Ideal candidates to join the team should have an interest in a career in capital markets, ability to work across various equity, equity-linked and debt products, sectors and roles. Applicants should also have an interest in gaining further experience with capital markets advisory, and working in both a syndicate and origination capacity. Candidates should be self-starters with an interest in getting involved at the ground level. Given the broad array of capabilities and flat structure, candidates should also be comfortable with playing a number of different roles that can be dictated by different situations as needed. Candidates should have a keen interest in the markets and corporate finance.
What Would You Be Working On:
Assignments completed by the Evercore team have ranged from acting as GM’s sole financial advisor on their $23bn IPO (a 2+ year assignment) to serving as the lead underwriter on a ~$89 million IPO for a biotech company. In 2018, Evercore acted as a Global bookrunner and structuring agent on the first ever Mexican privatization IPO. While focused on traditional equities products (IPOs, follow-ons, convertibles, etc.) as the core part of our value proposition, Evercore equity capital markets also provides advisory around M&A financing, dual-track processes, spin-offs /carve-outs, and merger structuring. Our team also works closely with the debt advisory and private placements teams to offer our clients a full suite of products and capabilities for their capital structure. As a core part of our growing team, our focus will be both on incorporating the right professional with complementary skills to the team and mentoring that person’s development in what will likely be a number of new skill-sets.
Specific Qualifications

Firm Description
Evercore Partners is an independent investment bank with approximately 1300 employees with a global presence in the Americas, Europe and Asia. Evercore was founded in 1995 by Roger Altman, a former Deputy Secretary of the Treasury and the Firm’s Chairman. Evercore’s CEO is Ralph Schlosstein, a co-founder of Blackrock. Evercore focuses on two lines of business, Investment Banking and Investment Management, and prides itself on being a trusted senior advisor to corporations of the highest caliber. We seek to differentiate ourselves through unstinting adherence to our core values of Excellence and Integrity.
Evercore established its broker-dealer in 2010 with a simple premise. C-suite executives and Boards of Directors clearly valued three things above all else in a trusted advisor: knowledge of their industry, depth of understanding of their strategic objectives, and a facility with what might be possible in the capital markets. Evercore excelled at the first two, but did not have dedicated expertise in the third. With that thesis in mind, Evercore established a broker-dealer akin to those that existed thirty years ago. We are an agency only model that has no proprietary trading and inherent conflicts of interest that can come with the commitment of capital. Our research product is focused on deep, thematic trends over years, not the largely episodic research that has come to dominate the sell-side community over the last decades. Finally, our distribution team has significant, sector-dedicated experience. Our sales professionals are experts in the industries that they cover, with decades of experience focusing on those sectors.
